From models, musicians, actors, to the Oscars and even the Nobel Peace Prize Concert, her eye for enhancing the beauty of a face has put her at the forefront of her industry.
In 1999 she had the opportunity to work with Grammy and Juno Award Winning singer, Diana Krall for a few days. A new look was created and the match was a huge success. Since then, Voula has been working with Diana Krall as her personal make-up artist and travels with the singer on music tours, photoshoots, and press engagements.
In addition to working with Diana Krall, Voula’s unique creative skills have also graced the faces of Liv Tyler, Christina Aguilera, Yoko Ono, The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Elvis Costello, K.D. Lang and Tom Hanks.
Her work has appeared on the pages of various Canadian publications including Flare, Fashion, Images, More, Chatelaine, Quebec Elle, Toronto Life, Today’s Bride, International Vanity Fair, In Style, and Italian GQ.
Over the years, Voula’s work has enhanced the Advertising campaigns of Holt Renfrew, Avon, The Bay, Lida Baday, Ogilvy’s, The Body Shop, and Ports International as well as many TV commercials and music videos.
Her career has encompassed a position as a trainer for make-up artists for Elizabeth Arden and MAC Cosmetics and she also had a hand in creating the make-up manual for Quo Cosmetics.
Voula’s training began at an early age when she became fascinated with drawing the details of faces as a child. Later, she worked on class plays in high school and finally she made a point of practicing her art every year during her favorite holiday - Halloween! When she began doing make-up for friends weddings, photographers noticed and the comments were always positive. Despite this natural love of the art of make-up, Voula decided to pursue an education in another area. She went on to study marketing at Ryerson University and landed a job in a large advertising agency. Immediately, she knew this wasn’t her passion and realized make-up was something she should pursue as a full-time career. As fate would have it the head of the agency had a friend who owned a make-up school. Her talent was once again recognized and upon completion of the course, she was asked to stay on as a teacher.
During this time, a close friend introduced her to the owner of a new line of make-up, MAC cosmetics, called Make-up Artist Cosmetics….Now MAC…. She formed a relationship with the owners Frank and Frank who gave her great opportunities into the fashion world as a freelance artist.
Eventually a Make-up Agency approached her to be a part of the team of experts that would represent her in the world of fashion, advertising and TV. Voula continues as part of a Toronto-based artist agency.
Over the years, Voula has come to understand that beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder and has been inspired to commit her talent to help women realize and open up their personal beauty - which she strongly believes is an expression of their inner essence.
