LATISSE™ was clinically tested in a pivotal Phase III, multi-center, double-masked, placebo-controlled study. LATISSE™ users experienced statistically significant improvements in eyelash prominence, length, fullness and darkness at the end of the 16-week timeframe:

• 78 per cent of patients experienced an increase in overall lash prominence (versus 18.4 per cent for placebo).
• Patients experienced a 25 per cent increase in eyelash length (versus 2 per cent for placebo).
• Patients experienced a 106 per cent increase in eyelash thickness / fullness (versus 12 per cent for placebo).
• Patients experienced an 18 per cent increase in eyelash darkness (versus 3 per cent for placebo).

About LATISSE™
LATISSE™ is a prescription eyelash growth treatment applied at home, before bed to the base of the upper eyelid margin, similar to eyeliner once a day with a sterile, single-use-per-eye disposable applicator brush.

In a clinical trial, treatment with LATISSE™ was well tolerated. In one multi-centre, double-masked, randomized, vehicle-controlled, parallel study of four months duration, most adverse events detected were ocular, mild to moderate, and not serious.

Once treatment with LATISSE™ is discontinued, over a period of several weeks to months (average eyelash hair cycle), eyelash prominence will return to pre-treatment levels. Therefore, to keep lashes looking luscious and beautiful, continued treatment with LATISSE™ is necessary.

THE TREATMENT:
DLK’s Injectable Treatment procedure takes place in a medically supervised clinic after a consultation.  A customized treatment program will be developed and each patient’s individual concerns and goals will be met.

The area to be treated will be cleaned and the actual treatment takes from 20 to 30 minutes. Juvéderm™ VOLUMA™ will be injected into the treatment site (e.g. cheeks, cheekbones, and/or chin) with a small needle. After the injection, your face will be massaged at the treatment sites to make sure Juvéderm™ VOLUMA™ is properly distributed and the results are even. Only experienced physicians or Registered Nurses who have had specific training on using facial volumising products and in using this particular injection technique are authorised to inject Juvéderm™ VOLUMA™. Before you leave, ice may be applied to your treatment sites for at least 10 minutes to help minimize swelling, inflammation, and bruising.

PRE-TREATMENT:
It is recommended to discontinue aspirin, aspirin-like products, non-steroidal anti-inflammatories, St. John’s Wort, high doses of Vitamin E, and alcohol for a few days before your treatment to minimize bruising and swelling.

POST-CARE:
Treated areas may be slightly swollen and red following the procedure, but these effects generally disappear within a few hours to a day. It is recommended that the patient return two weeks after treatment for a follow-up appointment to ensure that the results are optimal.

It is important that the amount of movement or sleeping on the area injected be minimized for the next 48-72 hours (e.g. minimize smoking and/or drinking from a straw, sleep on your back). Treated areas might feel numb, swollen, firm, or sore for a few days and may appear bruised.

THE RESULTS:
Injectable fillers results are typically immediate and often a single treatment session will achieve the desired improvement in the area of concern.  No injectable is 100% permanent and all will require repeat injections to maintain the desired effect.

What is Juvéderm™ VOLUMA™?
Juvéderm™ VOLUMA™ is injectable hyaluronic volumiser that provides long-lasting restoration for facial volumes through injection. The results are immediate, even, and very natural looking. What exactly is hyaluronic acid?
Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a naturally occurring substance found in the body that helps to hydrate and add volume to our skin. Natural hyaluronic acid is broken down by the body in one or two days so is constantly replaced—as we age this replacement mechanism diminishes so the moisturising and plumping effects of hyaluronic acid decrease. Hyaluronic acid is used for aesthetic treatments, and has been used by doctors for injection into arthritic joints to aid movement as well as eye surgery.

Juvéderm™ VOLUMA™ has been specifically developed to restore lost facial volume e.g. in the cheeks, cheekbones, and chin. While wrinkle fillers like Juvéderm® ULTRA offer excellent results when applied to fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth, nose, and eyes, Juvéderm 4 and Juvéderm™ VOLUMA™ is often better suited to larger scale facial volumising.

When can I return to work and resume my social life?
The aesthetic results are immediate and very natural looking. You can return to work and resume your social life immediately.

Are there any side effects?
Following injection, you may experience redness, slight swelling, or bruising at the injected area. Your doctor will inform you about this. These side effects will not last and can easily be covered up with your usual makeup. However, do not hesitate to inform your doctor if these reactions persist (beyond a week) or if any other side effects are observed.

What about contraindications?
These do exist. They are not specifically related to Juvéderm™ VOLUMA™, but to this type of treatment. This is why it is important to tell your doctor:

• about any previous history of pathologies such as auto-immune diseases, allergies, known hypersensitivity to hyaluronic acid, any tendency to develop hypertrophic scars, immunotherapeutic treatment, inflammatory or infectious complaints (acne or cold sores) at injection sites, etc
• if you are pregnant or breast-feeding
• about any previous aesthetic treatment, particularly the use of permanent products.

Is there anything I should know before I have the treatment?
Do not take aspirin for at least three days before the injection session. During the injection, risk of bruising (haematoma) and swelling will be higher for patients under anti-coagulant treatment or taking aspirin.

Are there any recommendations I should follow after treatment?
You are advised not to apply pressure to or massage the injection site during the first days following injection session. In the two weeks following treatment, we advise against prolonged exposure to temperatures under 0°C, and to sun or strong heat (UV rays, saunas, steam baths, etc).

How much does treatment cost?
This is entirely dependent on what treatment you are having done, who is doing it, and how much product is required. It is best to discuss this during your consultation.

Who should I see if I am interested in treatment with Juvéderm® ULTRA or Juvéderm™ VOLUMA™?
