Dr. Lisa Kellett, mother of four, is honoured to have been nominated
for this year's Mompreneur of the Year Award brought to you by
SavvyMom. We invite you to take a moment out of your day to celebrate
great ideas and innovative solutions developed by savvy Canadian moms.
Please find below an excerpt about Dr. Kellett and how her clinic is making a difference in the community.
Our health care system does not pay for treatment for children with scars and other issues deemed “cosmetic”. Dr Lisa Kellett regularly donates her services and the resources available at her medical clinic to treat children referred from the Hospital for Sick Children for free. In addition, recent adult victims of violence have also been treated within this program without cost to the patient. The program is based on the inability of a patient or their family to pay for elective services, all clinic costs, assessments, treatment costs, tests, follow up, medications and even transportation fares are paid for and provided by Dr. Lisa Kellett so that these patients can receive the best of what the most up-to-date technology can offer.
Unfortunately the need for this service is substantial. Dr Lisa Kellett wants to help more people. As such, funds received from the Savvy Mompreneur of the Year Award will be used to broaden the DLK Compassion for Kids Program. After all, the unfortunate remnants of dog bite scars, burns and automobile accidents do more than just leave visible scars. Here we can truly make a difference.
